My boyfriend and I are moving to Dubai (so excited!!) both have jobs out there and will be looking to rent/purchase a property. We have a house in the UK with a joint mortgage that we are going to rent out. I will remain resident in the UK due to my job, my boyfriend will be on a local employment contract over there. We need to understand how my residency in the UK could affect his non-residency for tax purposes as our rental income will be joint – HMRC gives no advice and we’re stuck!

I don’t live in America, and my father is going to buy me an iphone 3gs from Dubai in a couple of months, I was wondering if the iphone 3gs would work somewhere like India, Sri Lanka or in the Maldives.
Also I use a GSM sim, so would it work on the iphone? Also will I have to pay like a monthly rental fine for the iphone after buying it also???

I got a job offer from a company at Abu Dhabi for sales position. They offered me 4700 AED’s . I will have to manage my food/stay with this and try to send some money home, the very purpose of me going over there. I am a veggie basically and willing to stay as a room mate/pg with any body. besides I need to travel for making sales calls in and around abudhabi &
dubai they say , to sum up I want to know Since I go there for the first time should I carry some money with me to meet the upfront expenses like rental advances and for my errands of job , Is there reasonably priced housing available for sharing basis? If yes how much I will be paying? Is there any south Indian messing/hotel available which offers monthly meal coupons? What will be the cost of traveling there? (Taxi/Bus) Etc. Apart from these things how much will I be able to save practically given the situation I live there on a shoe string budget, eat and live frugally shunning impulses like entertainment /shopping Etc.
Of course I forgot to add, my travel expenses are reimbursable at actuals
They offered me to reimburse One way ticket for joining duty, so how much it will cost on the economy class on the cheapest airline from Chennai/Madras (South India) to Abudhabi?
Also I wanted to know the weather part & traveling distances between commercial places, is it possible to walk across the city? I mean between the central business districts? and how about the south indian/tamil population over there? are they in large nos’
I discovered that my work place is in Emarat Atrium Building in syed z. road(this building is near Burj dubai or Pro tech. Apple center) . Google map is not able to show distance, that is why i am confused. I am planning to stay in international city, but the budget is asking me to think for some other options in addition.
I am looking for a place in sharjah.. one to 1.5 hour of drive is fine.

I reside in dubai. I travel to work for nearly one hour up and one hour down by a bus rental. I feel bored during this journey. Most of the people is the bus sleep. I always make sure I have enough sleep so I feel bored in the bus.
At present I have a nokia basic model with no FM or camera in it. I would like to buy or exchange the same for a basic mobile model with FM in it so that I can hear the songs during my travel to work and back.
Can somebody in Dubai suggest me which is the best shop or model of phone to buy.
P.S: I earn very little salary. So my budget would be maximum of Dhs 200
