I used to be a naive jobhunter. On daily basis, I’d visit tens of job sites, apply to hundreds of job vacancies, and collect hundreds of emails from newspapers and websites. Then, I’d send my résumé to all those emails…And, I’d wait. Sitting on my home desk chair – calm and relaxed – I was certain that among all the posts that I applied to there had to be somebody interested. I thought myself a really valuable addition to any company. But I waited and weeks went by. And suddenly, my phone rang! But it was my little sister trying out her new mobile number. Bummer!

Clearly, it was time to try something new. After intense research, I identified the problem and the solution. I was sending my résumé to low-quality, cold contacts. The solution was to build a network of hiring managers that are receptive to my kind of résumé. I needed high-quality, hot and responsive contacts in Dubai. A lot of them.
After realizing this, I set out to begin building my network. Along the way, I discovered very cool networking mediums. I discovered unique tips and tricks to reach just the right people in Dubai.
But when I wanted to put my network to the test for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised with the results! My new network was so hot and responsive, my job search became as easy as:
1. send a few emails,
2. get a phone call,
3. go to an interview,
4. and get the offer.

Now, any time I want to change jobs, I just follow these four simple steps. Also because of my network, I now get headhunted for jobs in Dubai without even looking. I was recently called for an interview for a $8,000 (30,000 Dhs) per month marketing-related position with a Dubai government agency…Yes, that’s during the current economic recession!
Honestly, I used to get paid an amount much lower, it’s embarrassing to mention. Only with this method I was recognized for my full value.
